Deschutes National Forest, Oregon - Bald Eagle Cam

http://www.fs.fed.us/outdoors/naturewatch/eaglecam.html
This is a streaming cam with a 3-minute limit; there's a brief intro before you get to the cam.

The cam is located in Willamette Pass in Deschutes National Forest in central Oregon. The Deschutes National Forest Bald Eagle Cam is provided by the Oregon Zoo, AT&T, the National Fish & Wildlife Foundation, and the USDA Forest Service's NatureWatch Program. The area was first identified as an occupied territory in 1974, and has been successful in producing fledglings in 21 of the years since then. They raised one chick in 2006, and had early nest failures in 2007 and 2008. They do appear to have an alternate nest as well as the one with the camera, so we'll have to wait to see which one they use this year.

2008-2009 Season:
  • adults return: both adults were seen in the nest November 1st
  • egg laid: April 8, 8:15 pm
  • hatched: May 15, 5:15 pm (37 days)
  • fledged: August 10, early morning (87 days); not seen at nest after fledge (2 adults and juvie seen in area August 13 but no way to be sure it was this family)

I'm afraid I forgot to post this at the time - things have been a bit busy for me lately. This is from November 1st:

Naturegal on the CHIL forum caught a couple of pictures of both of them on the nest - I don't think that she'll mind if I bring them over here as well:

Looking at this nest puts the snow in Sidney into perspective!! Maybe it's not so bad there after all!!

This is a familiar picture for this nest. They surely get a lot of snow there. I just hope that this coming season will be a successful one for the pair.

Wow, does it ever stop snowing there? These poor eagles! I am anxious to see both of them after the confrontation last year that ended there nesting attempt. It was a pretty violent attack on mom. Has anyone seen both of them yet this year? Even if they don't nest it would be reasuring to know they are still together!

Oh my gosh, Leslie! Look at the snow! I have checked in on this cam a few times and seen no sign of eagles. I just hope mom was ok after that violent attack last year :(

Yup, snow. Happy Easter Maple Ridge. :)
Per weather report Deschutes may have some sunshine to be thankful for soon; probably more snow Sunday and Monday:
