Bev,
Thanks much for the live link. I was able to watch it for a little while before dinner.
Mom flew in and sat all cozy on her eggs. Pretty cool! 8)

Does anyone know which specie this is....I'm thinking Anna's?

When i first checked in she wasn't in the nest, couldn't see any little ones yet.
She's back in the nest very alert the rose bush is gently swaying from the wind.
3:42 hummingbird time she has again left the nest,i believe they have replenish themselves every 20 minutes.Wasn't gone long back again.Soo pretty! :D

Clicked on the cam first thing this morning and Mom is still incubating on a sunny day in CA.
I wonder if we will see hatching this weekend?
Stay tuned!

One egg hatched in the wee hours this morning.
I haven't seen her feed it yet.

Be sure to check out the last brood's videos:
Hummingbird Chick Videos
"First Flight" is my favorite.

Hi Dellwo and a big welcome to you!! :D

This "live" cam is quite addicting as I keep coming back here
and I'm not getting much done around the house.
Mom left for a bit and all I could see was one egg that still looked intact,
once the feeding starts it will really get fun!

Thanks for the links to last years brood...those were amazing! :thumbsup

Hey all you Hummer Fans,
I would like to introduce our newest member here Dellwo (aka Joe).
I've just found out that Joe is the proud homeowner of this live Hummer Cam that we are all watching & enjoying. I've asked Joe if this was OK to announce that this is his extended family and I'm so happy he said "yes" :D ...his reply is quoted below.
Figured we would all have questions for him which I know I did...LOL
What type of camera? ... how many viewers? Many questions have already been answered in the Garden Web link below...check it out.
So anyways, we're so glad to have you join us Papa Joe....and your Allen's is a beauty!!
Thanks for sharing her with us!

A lot is covered in this thread: Garden Web

Traffic isn't too heavy but of course my upload speed is limited
so I get some slow downs. Had about 140 unique visits today, but
it depends on how many keep it streaming. There were about 7000
hits total during the last brood.
I was looking at software to stream it to my web-site then folks could get it
there without my connection limiting things. But she surprised me with a new
brood before I could set it up.
Joe

I'm glad you all are enjoying this as much as I am.
After watching her through my kitchen window for a few
years I finally got the camera last spring. It's been
loads of fun to see what going on and to share it with
family and friends.

Enjoy, Joe

Dellwo thanks so much for sharing your cam with us. I had no idea that they nested in the same place each year. Although, with a nice place like this one, I can see where they might not want to move. I think this cam is in my top five favorite list. Thank YOU for that!

What are some of the things that you've found most interesting about having this family, and the cam, outside of your window?

What a beautiful view you have - I shall enjoy watching the roses too (ours are pretty much all gone now). I enjoyed watching this so much today. I was sad when I remembered the rufous hummingbird nest with two eggs that the mother abandoned in my clematis vine last May. But now I get to watch another nest live! Thanks so much. :ecsmile

I'm getting a lot of visitors. I hope the video hasn't slowed down too much.

It's really fun to watch them grow up. In a couple weeks they'll have to sit
on top of each other to fit in the nest. I'm always amazed they don't fall
out. The last chick in April gave me a scare. Standing on the edge it had
to climb back up after the egde folded over (it's very soft).

Do all hummingbird species return every year to the same nest?

Dellwo do your hummers stay year round? It nice to see the spring like conditions our hummers(rufous) leave end of july here in central east coast VI.Lots of succulents amongst your rose bush, wonder how they manage not to hurt themselves on the thorns :o

Its a little slow/jerky no wonder a lot of people from around the world are checking it out,did see mama bring some bugs. 8)

She's usually in my rose bush from December thru mid-summer.
Her last brood was in May this year so she making up time now.

Not all species return to the same nest.
She only uses the same nest about half the time. Seems like she
starts building a new one but can't finish before the eggs need to be laid.
Then finishes the nest for the next batch.
