Hi Beth, Karen, and pye; and others
The siren you hear is from the fire hall which is just up the road from the nest field about 1 to 1 1/2 miles or so, out from 10 or 11 o'clock from the WA at the nest.
Sorry to hear about the devastating heat back there. Bad week- bridge collapse and mine cave-in. Just awful!
And no Skye in the nest to boot! I do hear him still, once in a while, alth' not today!

Mornin` Nesters: :)

I beat you to it this morning Beth.

Hope you have a great 2 weeks at the cottage, Pye. :) I don`t think you`ll miss anything - looks like the nest activity is over for another season.

Have a great day, everyone. And Beth, do take care in that heat. Do you know it was 7C, or roughly 45F? It feels like fall in the mornings here.

BBL. :D

Morning Judith,

Still have your company? You did not miss any Da visits last night....only the downstairs neighbours. Things are getting quieter and quieter....soon gone...

Have a great day EV1

Mornin` Pye: :)

Nope - company gone! :D But, it was a nice visit. And looks like I didn`t miss any nest visits. Don`t expect to see any more of those now - or at least, very few, if any.

You must be all excited about your vacation! And what a great time to look forward to to.

Enjoy - you will be missed. :)

By the way, are you of Scottish ancestry, by any chance? Some of your words seem Scottish. :? :)

Hugs.

Hi Nesters: :)

Starting today, I am going to be away off and on for the next couple of weeks. So, if you don`t hear from me, you`ll know why. :)

Just heard adult eagle call in the near distance. No sound or sight of Skye.

Wishing you all the best. I will post from time to time - until the cams resume with nest rebuilding or Goldstream - whichever comes first.

Hugs.

sj,
Thanks for your updates on the activity at the nest. I am lurking in the branches, peeking in off and on during the day and appreciate your commitment to the "nesters".
Have a great holiday and we'll be in touch. It's just not the same without our little mugwump!!

Wait!! Where's everybody going? Was it something I said?

I do understand perfectly..time away from watching an empty nest will be very therapeutic. We all have empty nest syndrome. I will still be hanging around though, even though I will be on the slo mo at the cottage.

Judith, I am Scottish on my Da's side and Irish on my Ma's. I have been mostly influenced by my Irish relatives because there were way more of them. Also, I grew up in the Ottawa Valley...has it's own peculiar use of language...very Irish-influenced.

Thanks everyone for all your great nest-watching and posting and friendly chatter. I've enjoyed it so much.

Off to the country now.....touch base later.

Debs...are you home yet?

One final post before the weekend. Just can`t stay away.

First of all - no Skye or adult calls heard - maybe we had the last farewell.

To ma and Beth - thanks so much for your kind words. I look forward to joining you all when the activity resumes. :)

To Pye - I knew by your use of some words that you had some Scottish/Irish heritage. In particular - 'Da', and 'wee', and several other phrases. I have done a lot of research into Scottish history, and recognize the vernacular - which, by the way, I love. :D So, my curiosity got the better of me.

To Debs - look forward to your return. I`ll be checking in from time to time to say hello to all my friends here. Karen, I missed you today - we`ll talk again. Jude, will talk when you get back too. And Grizz - of course I know you`ll be around.

So, to all of you - including those I missed - see you real soon. :)

Hugs.

Hey Judith (J1)...just happened to check the laptop as I was about to pack it away into it's travel bag and saw your post...thanks. I miss you already!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend and an even better August, what's left of it.
Big hugs,
Pye

Okay, where is everybody? Not all went away, did you? I know, the nest is empty and no sounds of eagles on the cams now.
But the Nesters, no! There's usually someone around, (I thought).

The nest looks so lonely and abandoned. Here's to next season!
Somebody will show up, John! They can't stay away!

Hey John & BB: :)

You`re right, BB - we just can`t stay away.

I`m in and out over the next while - but I`ll be checking in - at least until there`s no one left to talk to.

It`s hard to believe the season is over. We will sorely miss our Skye - just like we did Vic and Sid last year.

But, at least we know Mom and Dad will return - and that is some consolation. :)

So John, hang in there. Some of us will still be posting from time to time. Never fear.

And don`t forget to let us know about the salmon run. We`ll all be back - with bells on :!: 8) :D

I check the posts time to time.
Hope all our vacationing friends enjoying their life.
Hope to have you back in the nest soon
Karen please let us know what is the latest news on oil leak. I don't see

Have a good evening everyone :)
Love Diana

Hi Diana: :)

Nice to know that you`ll be in and out too. We`ll be able to talk from time to time. :D

It is hard to watch an empty nest - and no peeping either.

Also hard to stay away.

Keep in touch. :D

Hey Eagleholics :D

Hi John, Gogee, BB and sj :D

I am back home for a few days and enjoying all of the wonderful posts while catching up. :D Missed everyone :) As I said earlier, next season
I will not leave my perch until eagle season is over. Laptop not as handy as I had hoped it would be :(

Can't wait for Goldstream to go up. :D Any news as to when? Haven't seen a date yet.

I will be checking in off and on also. Have a few days before the Vancouver trip!

Have a great evening Nesters!!! J-2 Jude

Just want to say until we nest again to everyone leaving for the fall break. It's been another great eagle season with much more to come. I think the eagles might be back by October, but might not be around the nest much for a while. I'm guessing the salmon will start moving in toward Goldstream about then and be running prtetty good by November. But it's hard for me to guess since the salmon are on a different schedule here in Lake Superior.

In the meantime, if you're suffering nest withdrawal, go over to "More Wildlife" and check out the Africa Cams... Pete's pond and all. They recently got one up and running for the new season, and they even have safaris.
