This will probably be updated as the season progresses. But this will help us get our bearings.

Basement in these pics were also called Library. Lower condos was also referred to as where the renters lived. Balcony was also called Mom's perch.

Sidney Eagle Clan Nestinary

Attic =The large branch directly over the Nest Bowl
Balcony =Also known as Mom's Perch. It is the branch on the left side of the nest directly above the basement.
Basement = The left side of the nest last season, now seen as between two branches.
Beak-to-beak Play = The eaglets often rub and/or gently tap beaks together. It is an eagle sign of affection. Also performed during mating rituals by adults.
Brekie =Canadian for the first Food Drop of the day for the eaglets.
Flatlet. =Eagle laying still in the nest,often sleeping?
Flap-dancing =Eaglet wing exercizes performed while steppin, hoppin or jumping about on the nest.
Flapercise = Eaglet wing exercises performed while branching or on the nest.
Flapnastics =Eaglet wing exercises performed while branching or on the nest.
Flat-faced = Eaglet in the Flatlet position with face on the nest.
Flatlet =An eaglet lying belly down in the nest, especially after eating a large food drop.
Funky Chicken =The eaglet dance that follows a major crop stuffing to make room for more food.
Landing Strip =The section of nest that Mom and Dad land on when coming
Mombrella =Mom eagle sheltering eaglet(s) under her wings during rain and/or wind
Mom's Perch =The branch mom often perches on just to the left and above the nest.
Nest Bowl =The depression in the center of the nest.
NestOvers =Leftover bits of food that the eaglets find in the nest after the main item was eaten. Eaglets are messy eaters who leave bits of food all over the nest. When hunger strikes and there isn't fresh food, they peck and search the nest for the remains.
Peep Fest = What an eaglet does when it realizes food might be on the way.
Poop-Shoot =What eaglets do after they've digested their food. An eaglet will backup to the edge of the nest, dip its head, raise it's tail and fire a load out of the nest.
Pre-First-Flight Prep = First flight check sequence: Head bobbing, and looking around followed by a quick Poop-Shoot with more head bobbing and looking around followed very quickly by the eaglet leaning forward by rotating at the hips, jumping and taking wing for the 1st time.
Stickman = A small branch, which is part of the Saanich nest, that sticks up at the right edge of the nest that the eaglets like to perch on.
Wingersize =Eaglet wing exercises performed while branching or on the nest.
Wingnastics =Eaglet wing exercises performed while branching or on the nest.


This list will be added to as the season progresses and the group uses new names for this season.

Hi Beth: look and sound like we have our own language. :lol: :lol: How neat. Anybody just joined and was not with us last year probably think that we are NUTS (yeah, eagle nuts though).
